Siyang is a highly motivated solicitor with accumulated experience in various litigious and non-litigious commercial matters. Since being admitted to practice in NSW in 2019, Siyang has represented clients in New South Wales and Federal courts and tribunals with a focus on contract, real property, intellectual property, building and construction and corporate disputes whilst expanding her practice in insolvency. Her passion lies in providing tailored solutions to complex legal problems and achieving commercially sensible results for clients.

 

Siyang is dual qualified to practice law in Australia and the People’s Republic of China and can offer legal services in Mandarin.

Relevant experience

  • Advising developers, builders and homeowners on construction and property disputes under the Home Building Act 1989 (NSW), Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 (NSW) and Conveyancing Act 1919 (NSW). 

  • Representing clients in a multi-million dollar dispute in the NSW Supreme Court concerning the breach of contract and quantum meruit claim.

  • Acting for business owners in the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court concerning copyright infringement, breach of the employee’s duties, the tort of passing off and misleading and deceptive conduct. This case involved obtaining expert evidence from China and Nepal and seeking urgent interlocutory relief including freezing orders.

  • Defending the franchisee and its directors against the employee’s unfair dismissal and underpayment claims at the Fair Work Commission and the Federal Circuit Court.

  • Defending the liquidator’s monetary claim against the company directors with respect to insolvent trading and uncommercial transactions under the Corporations Act 2001  (Cth).

  • Advising the bankruptcy trustee on claw-back of transferred property and voidable transactions under the Bankruptcy Act 1966 (Cth).

  • Advising the deed administrators of a building company on the adjudication of the creditors’ proof of debts.
